We all love movies and books, but what can make them really brilliant are the characters. I usually love the strong, independent characters, or the wonderfully awkward individuals.
Here are just a few of the best (in no particular order).
1. Percy Jackson
Slightly awkward, cheesy sense of humor, how good is Percy Jackson? He is also a lovely person, ridiculously devoted to his friends and always positive. He’s witty and a little sarcastic, as well as being the Son of Poseidon, not that that’s important (in case you’re wondering, he is in the Lightning thief by Rick Riordan). His fatal flaw is is his loyalty to his friends, and if possible it is the best sounding fatal flaw anyone could have. Despite being attack by multiple evil monsters, he never fails to look for the good in each situation. He is the perfect combination of awkward and strong. I also absolutely love the name Percy, it’s a really great name.
“Don’t feel bad, I’m usually about to die”– Percy Jackson, The Battle of the Labyrinth
2. Minho – The Maze Runner
Let me begin with saying, he has an awesome name. Sounds like some aquatic creature. He is a natural leader, as well as being strong minded and determined. He can sometimes be a bit hot headed, as well as getting into the occasional fight for standing up for what he believes in. He always sticks up for Thomas, and sticks by his side throughout the 3 books. He’s a big fan of just getting on with things, as well as cracking jokes to keep a little humor in the awful situations the Gladers have to face.
“…You’d think the little part about them supposedly killing us would be the attention getter.” – Minho, The Maze Runner
3. The Joker- The Dark knight
No one can not love his sheer creepiness and insane laugh. His ability to mess with people’s minds and trick people into doing almost anything. He knows he himself is insane and uses that to his advantage and intensify’s the madness with bright makeup and vivid purple and green clothing. His disturbed past mirrors into the present on his endless craving to get to Batman. Of course the actor Heath Ledger was great too.
“See, I’m a man of simple tastes. I enjoy dynamite, and gunpowder, and… gasoline!” –The Joker, The Dark Knight Returns
4. Bellatrix Lestrange -Harry Potter
Another awesomely disturbed character, and probably the only character in the whole Harry Potter series that Lord Voldemort himself hold a little respect for. She is also very manipulative, never failing to be whispering in one’s ear, knowing she will get her own way. Her insanity is mostly shown throw her uncontrollable childish laughter and that she never cares at all about killing almost anyone. Frizzy haired, Pale, wild eyed and completely out of control. They transferred the character in the film to Helena Bonhem Carter, who is simply a wonderful actress.
“He knows how to play. Itty-bitty-baby-Potter. “- Bellatrix Lestrange
5. Alice Kingsleigh-Alice in Wonderland
A dreamy, ambitious girl the is determined to be herself and not follow everyone else. Refusing to wear corsets and marry whoever her father chooses for her. One of my favourite story book characters because she is so dreamy and always stumbling into trouble. She is very curious, as we see clearly when she decides it is a good idea to chase a rabbit in people clothes down a rabbit hole. Alice is a little naive at times, as well as being easily confused by the world, but this is what builds her wonderful character, besides what good is a character without flaws?
“Alice’s Mother: Where is your corset? And no stockings!
Alice: I’m against them.
Alice’s Mother: But you are not properly dressed.A
Alice: Who’s to say what’s proper? What if it were agreed that “proper” meant wearing a codfish on your head? Would you wear it?
Alice’s Mother: Alice.
Alice: To me a corset is like a codfish.”
Any characters I’ve missed, comment maybe I’ll make a part 2.
